No, I think there are plenty of people who have good reasoning skills throughout history and today who maintain faith. I don't think it's that simple. Faith and religion are more of a cultural rather than biological phenomenon in my opinion.
But it does seem interesting that physical components in the brain can create the types of sensation or states of mind that we usually associate with religious or spiritual experience. These biological effects could inspire or at least be incorporated into the cultural phenomenon.
